Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BY-20 Wins an Inaugural DTF Pick Award from Keypoint Intelligence

Fairfield, NJ – Keypoint Intelligence, the world’s leading market research firm and independent evaluator of print and smart technology hardware, software, and services, announces that the Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BY-20 has won a Buyers Lab (BLI) 2024 DTF Pick Award for Outstanding Desktop DTF Printer. This award is part of Keypoint Intelligence’s initial direct-to-film (DTF) awards cycle and is based on the products that gave the best performances in field testing over the previous year.

“The Roland VersaSTUDIO BY-20 is a great addition to the company’s popular desktop family,” said David Sweetnam, Director of EMEA/Asia Research & Lab Services at Keypoint Intelligence. “With its compact design, superb image quality and excellent wash resistance, the device is sure to be a hit with the growing home business market—like vendors on Etsy—where high-profit and high-value goods are made and working space is a major consideration.”

The device delivered very impressive results across our challenging DTF test program, and having tested many Roland products in the past, we were not surprised to see great image quality. Some of the largest color gamut measurements we have recorded helped the Roland VersaSTUDIO BY-20 deliver an average spot color match of only DeltaE005.85 across our challenging corporate logo test suite. Skin tones and memory colors were praised for their highly realistic appearance, and vector solids earned top accolades for being bold while maintaining excellent fine detail reproduction.”

Washability is another area in which the Roland VersaSTUDIO BY-20 excelled. Over the course of 20 wash-and-tumble-dry cycles conducted at Keypoint Intelligence’s UK lab, white and black garments both passed with flying colors: They exhibited very low color gamut shrinkage, no text or fine line degradation, and all graphic elements still qualified as being of a high standard for wearing in public.

“When you add in powerful Roland VersaWorks RIP software, not to mention that the company’s own film, powder, and ink must be used to ensure a quality finished product, the Roland VersaSTUDIO BY-20 is going to be tough to beat in the desktop category—as it proved in our evaluation,” Sweetnam said.

“In recent years, DTF transfer inkjet printers have been attracting a great deal of attention worldwide in the apparel goods decoration industry, and a variety of products have been released by a number of companies,” said Tony Miller, President of Roland DG’s Global Sales & Marketing Division. “It is a great honor for us to receive this prestigious Pick Award from Keypoint Intelligence for the Roland VersaSTUDIO BY-20, which was selected from competitive products.”
